What that means in practice

When a link on this site goes to a product page and you buy something during that visit, a commission may be paid to this site. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be had you arrived at the page any other way. No additional cost is passed to you, and nothing is added to your order.

What the commission does not decide

It does not decide which product leads a lineup. That position goes to whichever product best answers the single job the category exists to do — for ice trays that is the shape and size of the ice, which is what actually controls dilution; for straws it is bore size matched to how thick the drink is. Where a leading product has a real weakness, the comparison table says what it is, in its own column.

It also does not decide what appears on the site at all. Categories exist here because they change something about the finished drink. Several common bar purchases are named on station pages specifically as things not to buy, and those recommendations stand whether or not the item is available through an affiliate link.

How product descriptions are written

They are written from manufacturer specifications and listing information. This site does not run its own product tests and makes no claim to have used the items personally. There are no prices and no star ratings anywhere on the site. Where a specification does not answer a question, the page leaves the question open rather than inventing an answer.

Where the disclosure appears

Every page carrying product links states the relationship once above the content and once below it, and the homepage carries a single statement of the same thing. The reasoning behind the whole editorial approach is on the about page.
