“Cold glasses keep leaving rings on the furniture”
Quick answer
A cold glass pulls moisture out of the air onto its own outside, and that water runs down and pools under the base. On a sealed counter it is nothing; on a wooden table it lifts the finish, and the mark is permanent well before anyone notices it forming. The fix is a coaster that takes the water away rather than one that merely intercepts it.

Preventing it next time
Condensation scales with how much colder the glass is than the room and how humid that room is, which means the worst case is exactly the situation this site is built around: a warm afternoon, a packed glass of ice, and a drink someone carries into a living room. Assume it will happen rather than hoping it will not.
The placement point is worth repeating because it is the one people get wrong. A stack of coasters beside the pitchers does nothing, because guests pick up a drink and walk. Put them at the far end of the station, in the direction of travel, and most of them get carried to where the glass will actually be set down.
